Russia Launches Large Drone and Missile Barrage on Ukrainian Cities

Russia launched a large overnight barrage of drones and missiles against Kyiv and several other Ukrainian cities, killing at least 10 people and causing widespread damage to critical infrastructure, Ukrainian officials said. More than 100 projectiles were fired in the attack, which struck residential areas and energy facilities, leaving millions of people without power.

Ukraine’s air force said its defenses intercepted roughly 70% of the incoming drones and missiles, but several weapons still reached their targets. Emergency crews worked through the night to extinguish fires, clear debris and restore electricity in affected regions. Authorities warned that the full extent of the damage was still being assessed.

The assault comes as diplomatic efforts to end the war remain stalled and Western allies continue to increase military support for Kyiv. Ukrainian leaders said the latest strike underscored the need for stronger air defenses and faster deliveries of weapons to protect civilians and the power grid.

The attack is the latest in a series of intensified Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, raising concerns about further disruptions to energy supplies as winter approaches.
