Russia Launches One of Its Largest Missile and Drone Barrages on Ukraine

Russia launched one of its largest aerial assaults on Ukraine in recent weeks, firing more than 100 missiles and drones in a coordinated attack that struck energy infrastructure and urban areas across the country.

Widespread Damage and Power Outages

Ukrainian air defenses intercepted many of the incoming projectiles, but officials said several strikes still hit their targets, causing damage and leaving parts of multiple regions without electricity. Emergency crews were deployed to assess the damage and restore critical services as quickly as possible.

Pressure on Energy Networks

The barrage appeared aimed in part at Ukraine’s power grid, a recurring target in Russia’s campaign since the start of the war. The attacks have added strain to civilian infrastructure and raised concerns about the resilience of energy supplies as the conflict continues.

Diplomatic Stalemate

The assault comes at a time of stalled peace talks and rising tensions between Moscow and Western governments that continue to provide military aid to Kyiv. With no breakthrough in negotiations, both sides remain locked in a conflict that shows little sign of easing.
